PLASTICOS HIDROSOLUBLES S.L. is a manufacturer entreprise located in the East coast of Spain in the location of Rafelbunyol nearby the City of Valencia. Our main activity is the production of water-soluble plastic film (extrusion) and injected pieces derivate from polymer, Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA), a synthetic resin produced by polymerisation of Vinyl Acetate followed by a standar hydroslysis. PVA has the exceptional quality that can dissolve completely in water (temperatures between 5 to 50ºC). Depending on the different features there are three basic families of materials: bt (cold water soluble 5-10ºC), mt (warm water soluble 10-10ºC) and at (hot water soluble 40-70ºC). All the products are considered: Non-toxic, biodegradable and compostable.

What we offer:
Plasticos Hidrosolubles, S.L. focuses its research, production abilities and expertise in the production of plasticized polyvinyl alcohol, formulation, compound production and pellets manufacturing. This product can be transformed into film, bags, pieces using classical blowing, injection-blowing and injection moulding. Plasticos Hidrosolubles´ success is due largely to the efforts in innovation and its ability to obtain different products with various features and applications.

For the time being, it is the only Spanish company with such expertise and one of the few across EU member states. The products obtained are characterized as non-toxic (UNE-EN-ISO 7346 and 6341, biodegradable (UNE-EN-ISO 14852), water soluble at different temperatures (5 to 70 ºC). Compost ability has been tested with positive results for some of the formulations (UNE-EN-ISO 13432). Biodegradability and Compost-ability on soil testing is being conducted under ISO 17556 by the University of Vienna.

Regarding the processing technology there is no innovation in the processing of conventional plastic products. However conventional technology cannot be used directly for the processing of the compound to obtain water soluble products. Changes in the specifications of conventional machinery have been made to get quality product that can be processed to mould inject a piece or to extrude a film or bag. This is technologycal innovation.

To obtain a processable polymer, the initial resin must be plastified. To get certain properties in the final material it is necessary to use additives. In this sense, “Plasticos Hidrosolubles” has developed the required technology to process polivinilic alcohol and obtain a material that can be extruded or injected. Processes that till then had not been described by any company were patented.

Depending on the different features we have three basic families of materials: bt (cold water soluble 5-10ºC), mt (warm water soluble 10-10ºC) and at (hot water soluble 40-70ºC). We can obtain products with different technologies and this give us the possibility of make rigid pieces as bottles or films.

All the products are considered: Non-toxic (UNE-EN-ISO 7346 and 6341), biodegradable (UNE-EN-ISO 14852), and compostable in accordance with the European norm EN13432. The brand, green cycles, encapsulates a concept, an idea: industrial processes and manufacturing can be transformed improving the life cycle of the resulting products or outputs. Our continuing investment in research and development is aiming to greener solutions and products for our customers. That is our small contribution.
